When it comes to exploring the monster fetish, the appreciation of the imagination, impact, and creativity involved with people’s first views is massive. Whether it was the Wolfman taking a bite out of his prey, the Cenobites stringing up their latest catch, or even an anime tentacle monster pulling its victims down into the depths of its lair, we all remember the first time we saw our favorite fictional monsters. For most people, it’s exciting and scary to see something new and dangerous. But for some people, their fantasies around monsters and the otherness of these creatures can take on erotic qualities. Teratophilia is a sexual attraction to monsters or other non-human creatures, usually playing into or working in adjacent-to existing power/domination kinks and fantasies. These kinks can be widely varied, and people can have preferences for their ‘type’ of monsters just like they do for…well, people!
An Origin of Species
Monster fetishes can start anywhere from teenage years on, perhaps earlier for some. They are usually either the catalyst for or secondary aspect to other fantasy scenarios, such as impregnation fantasies, primal domination, CNC, or mental BDSM. These exact fantasies don’t manifest clearly early on – many people don’t recognize they have them until they’re much older – there is still always a strong memory association with events in childhood, including a fascination with monsters.
Having this fetish doesn’t mean you want to turn someone into a monster in real life or have some crazy series of supernatural events happen to you. It’s still all in the realm of fantasy, and roleplay can be a great way for people to explore these fantasies during scenes with willing and eager partners. An impregnation fantasy could involve roleplaying a monster breeding with you, primal or CNC play could involve playing the victim a dominant monster who is animalistic and takes what it wants, and mental BDSM and power fantasies could involve a slower, sensual, more sadistic take on a dominating monster, whose power over mind and body is seductive and inescapable. There’s a lot of variety in kink with this fetish, which is why it’s a lot more popular than most “normal” people care to admit.
Choose The Form Of Your Destructor
Monster ‘types’ can have many different forms, and different aspects of kink roleplay they’re best suited. Below is a rough list of archetypes of monsters, and examples of roleplay they could work well with.
Demons/Devils – A Popular Monster Fetish
Whether borne out of religious taboo, guilt, opposition, or just being a secular sucker for the powers of darkness, demons can play well into a lot of domination and power fantasies. The allure of hell can be traced back to ancient times – in Greek Myth, Hades, King of the Underworld, stole away his Queen Persephone from the world above.
Our modern concept of Hell and its ruler, Satan (or Lucifer), involves a similar mix of brute force and charming manipulation – of brimstone and hellfire and acts too depraved for mortal sensibilities, mixed with contracts and deals and promises of your deepest desires in exchange for your soul.
Devils, imps, and demons can easily fit into the wide variety of depraved and taboo interests and scenarios you can think of. They’re the Swiss Army Knives of monster roleplay. If you have a screw loose or need a hole filled, they’re the perfect tool.
Wolves/Werewolves – For People Who Love It Primal
Primal fantasies wouldn’t be complete without these ruff bad boys. Once you cross into furry territory – and especially into the claws of a dominant alpha wolf – the map of your kinks will never quite look the same again. Werewolves are another great hole-filler: from breeding fantasies and primal domination to transformation fetishes and getting to become a wolf yourself, they are the ideal monster for those who are attracted to the duality of man and beast. One could even argue that one of the most famous gateway monsters for monster fetishists, The Beast from Beauty and the Beast, fits this wolf-like description.
Vampires
Although some have tried to gentrify these creatures with dirty sparkle tactics and bad acting abilities, remember that the origins of these creatures have always been macabre. Their modern origins come from gothic fiction, paired alongside Frankenstein for some of the first published horror novels; Bram Stroker’s Dracula and Sheridan Le Fanu’s Carmilla. These vamps were mysterious, seductive, dangerous creatures of the night, who took what they wanted, made their mark in blood, and left none of their lovers alive. Domination and bloodplay are the go-to themes with this monster roleplay – but so are hypnosis play and mental domination. Vampires often captured their prey through seduction and power over the mind – don’t just stare blankly over her while she sleeps, fanged fellas; woo before you chew.
Fishman – Creatures Of The Sea
Popularized by the Creature From the Black Lagoon horror film in the 20th century, these creatures saw a resurgence in popularity 21st century through both hentai and The Shape of Water (how’s that for a pair of friends?). These creatures of the deep have evolved in the popular consciousness from being the last things you’d want to encounter to every quirky, kinky girl-next-door’s bucket-list fuck. Most of this reputation is due to the nature of how the creature is depicted; in Creature From the Black Lagoon, and more clearly in The Shape of Water, the fishman shown is animalistic but still gentle, wanting primal love with the object of their desire, and wanting to fulfill their desires in a sexual relationship as well. This more than other monsters makes them more human-like and sympathetic, which can appeal to monster fetishists just as much as a nonhuman monster can.
Tentacle Monsters – Hentai Monster Fetish And More
On the other hand, tentacled monsters and tentacle hentai in particular is often associated with consensual non-consent (CNC) roleplay. These monsters are ancient and fearsome and going to take what they desire no matter what, and pornography involving these monsters often involves the victim bound by tentacles, and the monster filling every hole imaginable in a person’s body with their slimy ends.
Not only is this a great fantasy for those who are into both bondage and CNC, but it’s also good for those who are into different toy textures and wet-and-messy fetishes. The idea of tentacles feeling slimy and having a lot more flexibility to penetrate deeper into you can be erotic for people, and tentacle toys and dildos have seen more popularity over the years since anime porn and hentai first took off. Aliens – Monster Fetish Fodder From The Final Frontier
Whether The X Files, Star Trek, or David Bowie got you, aliens by nature are intriguing for how truly different they are to us. Typically depicted as cold and detached from humans, yet curious and wanting to get up close and personal in the name of science and research, aliens can be great fits for medical roleplays and abduction/kidnapping scenarios. They can also be the sort of endangered or parasitic aliens taking hostages to propagate their species and can be a natural fit for impregnation play, especially using a unique egg-laying toy called an ovipositor. While this toy could also be a great fit for the aforementioned fishman, it works just as well for alien roleplay, too.
Dragons – A Classic Monster Fantasy
Continuing the trend of going further towards the furry and scaly side of the monster fetish spectrum, dragons are ancient and powerful creatures who see humans as gnats on their eternal windscreen, as meager distractions or annoyances in the way of their ambitions. Greedy and intelligent, these creatures may speak gently, but do not negotiate, and they answer any threats against the or brazen insolence with a blazing fire. Domination and power fantasies go hand-in-hand with this creature, as does primal domination, and even fire cupping or fireplay. Your top doesn’t have to crawl around on all fours like Benedict Cumberbatch in a grey suit. Instead, this fantasy is more about the appeal of power, and the assertion of dominance and superiority.
Maybe the monster caught breaking into their lair, searching for some glimmer of gold or a map to a greater treasure beyond. Rather than roast you where you stand, they’re impressed by your boldness, or at least curious about your intentions. Maybe they’re secretly lonely. Or not-so-secretly horny. Either way, soon you’re tied up, blindfolded, being interrogated next to a roaring fire, and getting just some hints of what they could do to you if you don’t tell them what they want to hear. Or maybe what they want even if you do. There is no one perfect scenario, but there are plenty of ways to, as the millennials say, optimize your dragon-dom experience.
Kaiju – Unique And Powerful
Kaiju, on the other hand, is a more regional term for Southeast Asian monster-types, and the mentality of such a beast may be far more primal and bloody without the slow-burning tension. Think Godzilla or King Kong rather than Smaug. Kaiju can be perfect for those with macrophilia, or size-discrepancy fantasies, where you’re being dominated by something much bigger than yourself, almost impossibly so. Don’t take this so far in roleplay that you’re shish-kabobbing yourself with implements that you should not be putting in your body – but if you’re willing to invest in some anal trainers, there may be extra-size monster dildos and vibrating toys with your name on them.
