Custom Pet Play Ears And Peachfuzzums – Let’s Get Started!
Sometimes it seems like there is a lot happening even with the lock-downs and stay at home orders. What have you been doing to occupy your time and move forward?
Beyond the time I take on my ears, I’ve been spending a lot of time cooking, gardening, and talking to friends and family. I have also been getting back in tune with my body. Being present with nature has been a deeply important practice for me during this time.
Custom Pet Play Ears! There has been a lot of demand for these ears, where did you get the inspiration to start making them? Any fun stories or feelings to share about your first pair or what got you interested in them to begin with?
There has been, and it’s so exciting and humbling for me! Ears have been a major motif of the many communities I’ve been privileged to be a part of. Ears are the perfect representation of the values I’ve found in those spaces. Values that include authentic expression, listening, receiving deeply, and connection. My parents actually bought me my first pair of ears, at the Renaissance Festival. I’m really grateful to have been raised by two open-minded people. Even if it’s not “their thing” they’ve always done what they can to be supportive of my expression and passion.
How many pairs of ears do you own?
I actually don’t own too many pairs myself! My first pair of ears, (light, beautiful, soft fox ears), some bright pink fabric cat ears, and black pleather cat ears. I have a few fox tails in different shades as well.
Do you see making custom pet play ears as a hobby for now? Or do you have some larger plans as time moves forward?
I think a bit of both! It was not on my mind for this to turn into a small business when I made my first few pairs. I just had some pastel rainbow fur in my craft horde, and time on my hands. Plus, I had emotions to process and let out. My ears are the product of my deepest experiences and joy. It means so much to me that folks have shown such an interest in them. Making a long term business out of this would be ideal for sure though! I’ll always make ears, regardless.
What is it about pet play that keeps you, or gets others, interested?
There is an aesthetic attraction for me for sure, but it goes so much deeper. Our current society (rooted in Colonialism, White Supremacy, Capitalism) places crushing expectations on those subject to it. We are shamed out of and torn from our comforts as we get older. Comforts like breadth of imagination, creativity, passion, expression, presence. That creates trauma, and we’re trained to fill it with substances, judgment, and hatred. Pet play allows me to move into a space where that trauma is healed with love, movement, and presence.
I get to engage with a part of my mind and spirit that isn’t valued by this society. Also, I get to connect with others on a level that encourages the activation of those things that are taken from us as we enter adulthood. The toys aren’t necessary, and I say that as a shop owner. The gear is merely the physical manifestation of the desire of our imagination, making something real that, in our earlier years, we could only dream of.
Can you tell our readers more about your custom pet play ears? One of the things I love is that so many different types are available.
Yeah absolutely! I make just about every kind of ear you can think of, with the exception of say, turtle ears, or parrot ears. There are sizes from micro to giant, as well as a range of styles, from realistic to cartoon. The ears are made with dry and wet pigment, and I offer a range of accessories. The medium and larger options tend to come with the ability to be fully poseable! I let my customers decide if they want a clip or headband attachment. I hand make, sheer, and color each pair, so they’re fully customizable.

My ears are shipped anywhere within the US and Canada. It’s so much fun when I see an order in from across the country!
What is the next pair of ears you are planning to make for yourself?
I’m planning on using a gorgeous rainbow fur with a blue base, silver chain, and Swarovski crystals. I am looking forward to making these OOAK Faerie Princess fox ears, and excited to have them realized.
